06/04/20 Easter BreakHi all, Well done to all the boys who have been trying to do some school work at home or are helping out with jobs in the house, and a big thanks to all the parents for their hard work too. I hope you will all enjoy the Easter break. There will be no homework for two weeks! However, I will attach a power point of fun ideas and games for you to use if you wish. 30/03/20Hi all, I hope you and your families are all keeping well. I hope the boys are getting on ok and doing a little bit of work every day, if possible. The document in my last post details the work up until Easter. Please ensure this work is not a stress to the boys or yourselves. Take it at your own pace. Often shorter periods of work time can ensure that work is understood and done well, rather than losing concentration or becoming frustrated during longer periods of learning. If you are looking for additional activities, I would highly recommend Twinkl as a resource. It’s free to create an account at the minute and there are resources for every subject. If you are finding it hard to get a routine going at home, Twinkl provides sample learning activities for each day. It can be accessed on a laptop, iPad, tablet or smartphone. Once logged on you click on the green ‘Home Learning Hub’ at the top of the screen. Scroll down and click age 5-7. Here you will find:
As well as the book sources I mentioned before, children’s author David Walliams is also doing daily audio clips of short stories that the boys could listen to and answer questions about on the website https://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses/ I understand that many people may not have access to a printer, however, many of the activities online can be done orally or written in a copy or on a piece of paper. I am also aware that people may not have access to the internet so I also added a document below with ideas of things to do if you have no internet access. I will also include book publishers whose books we use that are free to access. There are endless activities to choose from, so please don’t feel the need to do too much or put pressure on yourself. These are difficult times and we can only do our best. Do what you can and that’s good enough. These are just extra suggestions of things you can do with the boys if you’re looking to fill up some time. This is a great opportunity to try out some fun activities that we normally don’t have time for. Be sure to take some time out for yourselves too. 19/03/2020Hi everyone, I hope you're all keeping safe and well. The boys were all sent home with homework in their folders until the 4th of April. I have attached the homework documents below in case they have been misplaced. 1st class parents should check the document again for additional work included re. spelling tests. I would recommend that, if possible, the boys do a little bit of work at the same time each morning to keep them on track and in a routine. I would also advise that they keep up their reading to ensure they remain confident readers. As well as getting their school work done I hope the boys find time to be creative and have fun. Websites that may be helpful for additional learning at home. These are just some examples of websites that can we used. Do what suits you and your child best. General: - Scoilnet: Just search their class level, subject and particular topic you want to cover for activities https://www.scoilnet.ie/ - Twinkl is offering free subscription to parents due to school closures. They have excellent resources for every subject and also have uploaded school closure packs.
