November 2021
November has been a quiet enough month, although we had a big birthday in our class!!
We enjoyed the calmness of November, after the Halloween madness in October, and took advantage of the time to rest up and plan for the crazy Christmas ahead of us!
Have a look at the few photos we took :)

September 2021
September has been an eventful month in the Nest! All the boys moved to first and second class and we are now all in school for a longer day!
We learned all about light. We discussed transparent and opaque objects, how shadows are made, and natural and artificial light! We made some beautiful shadow art.
We also learned all about the story of the Children of Lír. We made swans in art and we did a wordsearch!
We read Esio Trot by Roald Dahl. We learned about the title, author and illustrator of books. When we finished the book, we had a cinema day where we watched the movie and ate some yummy popcorn!
Teacher forgot to take a lot of pictures, oops!!! Hopefully she will take more in October while we get ready for Halloween!

June 2021
Well, we have come to the end of the school year, and what a last month it has been! We have spent most of our time outside in the yard, playing with bubbles, footballs, slime, doing workouts with Tasha, rolling, doing obstacle courses and even petting some animals!
We have had an amazing year overall, despite missing a couple of months in the middle. Bring on summer camp!

May 2021
May was a very busy month in the Nest! We learned lots, played lots and even went on a trip!
We learned all about the zoo animals. We made a beautiful zoo display by making peacocks out of CD's and gems, flamingos out of paper plates and snakes out of loops of card! We then went on a trip to the zoo! We got to see lots of animals. Everyone loved the big orangutan, who sat quietly and watched us as we walked past. The elephants put on a real show for us, we saw the baby elephants playing in the water while their parents stood by to watch them! A toucan knocked on his cage at us, and we saw a monkey trying to reach a rope to swing from when he was very high up!
We also learned about our five senses. We used a special smelling kit to test our sense of smell. We tasted lots of different fruits and made smoothies.
We also had a double birthday party! The twins turned seven so we had a party in school. This was extra special as last year we were on lockdown for their birthday and couldn't celebrate it in school.
We are so excited for our last month of senior infants/first class! We are hoping mr. Sun makes an appearance for a while so we can do lots of fun things outside!
Have a look at our pictures below.

April 2021
As Easter fell during April, we only had three weeks of school this month! We did lots in those three weeks, but unfortunately teacher forgot to take pictures of a lot of it 🙈
We learned how to tell the time on an analog clock to the half hour.
We learned all about the post office, wrote letters to send in the post and learned about the journey a letter takes once it is posted!
We also did a lot of sensory play using styrofoam and moldable foamy soap. It made a big mess, but that is part of the fun!!
We watched the weather get slowly better and we are all ready for the summer to start!

March 2021
March has been a crazy month! We celebrated St. Patrick's day and Easter, and we celebrated Natasha's birthday early as we will be on Easter holidays for her actual birthday!
We learned all about insects and made beautiful butterfly suncatchers. We learned about the lifecycle of a frog and got to speak to a real-life scientist who answered all our questions! A boy in a different class brought in tadpoles so we got to see them in real life too! There was even some frogspawn in there!
We learned all about money and got to visit the 'Peppa Pig Shop' where there was a piggy shop keeper! It was very strange, as the shopkeeper kept appearing when teacher went for a nap 😴😴😂
We hope all the boys have a fantastic Easter and we will see you on 12th April!

After an extra long Christmas holiday, we got back to school for the last week of February! The boys were so happy to be back and we had a really great week. We learned about Spring and baby animals! We read the story of the Ugly Duckling.
December 2020
Well, what a busy December it has been in the Nest! From elves to Santa to birthdays, we had it all!
Our elf, Boots, came back to see us this year! He was very kind and wrote us lots of poems, and left us a couple of gifts! We all got some Christmas pencils, some chocolates and lots of kind words! He made a couple of small messes but nothing too insane!
One day, we were in the classroom listening to some Christmas music when we heard a jingly sound outside the door. We had a look and there was Santa!! We were so excited!!
We even had a birthday this month! We had a great birthday party!
On the last day of school, we had a Christmas party. We watched Shrek the Halls and had some popcorn and cookies!
We did lots more, like arts and crafts, a Christmas poem, and lots of dancing to Christmas music!
Have a look at our pictures!
Merry Christmas to all the boys, their families and their friends!

November 2020
In November, we learned lots and played even more! For the first two weeks, we read Jack and the Beanstalk and the Three Little Pigs. We role-played the story of the three little pigs, and got to take turns being the Big Bad Wolf! We also made some of our own houses out of lollipop sticks.
For the third week, we learned about all the seasons. We discussed what happens to the leaves on trees during each season. We also learned what months are in each season, and added the seasons to our news in the mornings.
For the last week of November, we learned about winter. We learned about animals that hibernate, migrate and adapt to the winter conditions. We talked about what clothes we would wear in winter. We made some arctic foxes out of paper plates and tissues, and we began to talk about Christmas! Santa left us a note, and put a Santa Cam in our class so he could watch us learn and have fun.
We are so excited for all the fun that is to come in December!

October 2020
In October we had a lot of fun, laughs and birthdays! We had two birthday boys and teacher's birthday this month, so we had 3 birthday parties!
We learned all about space and the planets. We learned the names of all the planets and we read two space stories - 'Back to Earth with a Bump!' and 'Journey Into Space'. The boys really enjoyed these stories and liked hearing about the astronauts in the International Space Station. They particularly liked finding out that some astronauts sleep on the walls! We made rockets out of recycled bottles, and space ships out of empty pasta pots and CDs!
We also learned all about Halloween! We read two stories while learning about Halloween - 'Room on the Broom' and 'The Magical Muddle'. We made our own potions which made us turn into Peppa Pig, made us turn into a big shack, made us levitate and made a new video game! We made loads of Halloween decorations from spiders to Frankensteins to pumpkins to ghosts! We dressed up on the last day of school before Halloween, and we all looked great!
Happy Halloween everyone, from us all in the Nest!

Summer Provision
After the school's shut back in March, we were so excited to hear that we would be able to run the Summer Provision programme! We had so much fun during the four weeks of summer camp. We went to the aquarium and to inflatazone! We played outside with some water, we did lots of art, we learned loads and we played even more!
Here are some pictures from the four weeks. I can not wait to see you all again on Monday 31st!

December
As you can imagine, December has been a very busy month for us! It was jam-packed with activities and we had great fun!
We put on a play for our families. We had lots of fun practicing and performing!
We had a silly elf called Boots visit us. He stayed with us for 3 weeks. He wasn't very naughty but did like to leave us messages on the board, and sometimes even challenges!
Santa visited us one day! He chatted to us for a while, and gave us all selection boxes.
Our parents came in and made some Christmas decorations with us! We painted foam Christmas trees. It was great fun!
We decorated our classroom. We worked together to put decorations on our tree, and we even coloured our own ones too!
We got to hear the older boys' Christmas Carol Service. They sounded great!
Here are some pictures of the last month.
Merry Christmas everyone, and have a happy new year!

October and November
October and November were very busy months in the Nest. We had four birthday parties, a trip to Spraoi, Halloween, and started to prepare for our Christmas festivities!
We read the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We tasted porridge. We played with oats. We pretended to be the different characters! We learned all about big/bigger/biggest and small/smaller/smallest. We spoke about how to know if someone is happy or sad.
Sixth class started a lunch time club on yard, where we can play with hula hoops, bean bags, chalk, stilts and footballs!
We practiced playing together in class and on yard. We made lots of beautiful art! We played hurling!
We did lots of other things too. Enjoy looking at our photos!
