Third class got the opportunity to participate in Lego Club this week! It was so exciting! We were learning about minibeasts in science, so we decided to create our own minibeasts out of lego! We split up into groups of 3, and each group designed their minibeast on paper. We then got to go down to Lego club with Lydia a few times in the week to make our piece. Miss Ray called us to her desk and we wrote a few sentences describing our piece for the labels. Overall, it was so much fun and we are so proud of our work!
The slideshow shows pictures of us looking at minibeasts out in the yard, and also our lego work!
Thank You Mr. Neville!
Mr. Neville is a 2nd year student in St Patrick's College, Drumcondra. He came to work with third class for 3 weeks. He taught the class about money, capacity, weight, debates, the 1916 rising, recycling and much, much more! They really enjoyed the three weeks with him. He will be missed!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Skeletons
Third class were learning about their bodies, and what stops them from looking like jelly!! We discussed our skeletons and how important they are. We learned the names of a few bones and did the bone dance on GoNoodle! We split into groups of 4, and traced around one person in our groups. We then painted them black, and used white paint to make the bones. We used coloured card to label our bones and joints. Our skeletons are hung on the wall in the hall, ready to greet everyone who comes upstairs!
Shadows
The boys have been learning all about the sun. We spent some time discussing the sun's energy, and how solar panels work. We then discussed shadows and how they are formed. Teacher used the projector to demonstrate how shadows are made. We then took advantage of the sun, went outside and traced our shadows using chalk on the yard! We had lots of fun!
Merry Christmas from Third Class!
Happy Halloween!
The boys had a spooktacular day today! We dressed up in our Halloween costumes and played Halloween games. Lydia dressed as a unicorn and Miss Ray dressed as a sloth!! It was great fun. We ended the day with a party!
Author Visit!
On Thursday, we went to the library to meet Erika McGann. Erika is an author from Drogheda. She wrote the Bubble Street Gang series. Erika told us loads about her childhood and her inspiration for her stories. We played hangman and she couldn't believe how good we were at it!
If any of the boys would like to join the library, Miss Ray has forms to join. If you join through the school, you do not need to provide proof of address or identification. Just fill out the form and return to Miss Ray :)
Maths Week
For Maths Week, Ms. Keogh organised some maths games for us down in the school hall. We had so much fun!
