Welcome to Early Start. Early start is an intervention project set up to prepare children for lifelong learning in a positive and enjoyable way. It aims to help children look forward to their future education and develop the skills necessary to engage with the Junior Infant curriculum. In Early Start children develop language, cognition and social skills that will result in them being easily able to adapt to school life in the future. Upon completing Early Start children move on to Junior Infants having already developed learning styles and confidence in their ability to learn. Children who have completed Early Start are well able to adapt to the busy Junior Infants classroom and take it all in their stride! Our Early Start consists of two groups, a morning group and an afternoon group. There are fifteen places in each group. Both groups are looked after by our enthusiastic and dedicated staff.
An important part of our Early Start programme is parental involvement. Throughout the school year parents are invited into our classroom for parent days and special events such as concerts, art days and Easter egg hunts. Parents, staff and children all really enjoy these special days! Our Early Start gives children a fun and positive outlook to school life. Children learn through a variety of different aspects of the Early Start curriculum. These include sand and water play, music, story time, drama and role play, outdoor play and other such activities. Our equipment is regularly changed around so that the children always have a huge variety of materials to play with. Play and positive adult-child interaction are the cornerstones of our Early Start activities.
