We're very lucky in MQoA2 to have a set of Chromebooks which can be used during class for the boys to develop their computer skills. We had our first lesson with the Chromebooks today (October 22nd) and it was a huge success! We logged onto a website called 'getepic' and on this website the boys were able to pick a book independently and have a storyteller read the book to them while they read along. The boys can't wait until our next session to explore some more fantastic websites which make learning interesting and exciting.
Our 'Non-Communion' Celebrations
It was very upsetting for all of the boys when we heard that our communion would have to be cancelled again to keep everyone safe. So, to make up for it, we decided to celebrate anyway!! We had a little ceremony with prayers in the class followed by a party which got even better when Mc Donald's got delivered to the school!!
Outdoor Reading
Sometimes when the weather is fine, it's lovely to take our work out into the yard and listen to the boys reading stories to each other in the fresh air.
A new 'Smart Board' !!
There was great excitement last Friday when we came into school and saw that we had been given a new smart board! The board is fantastic for interactive learning (and for watching Netflix on rainy days of course!!)
Using nature to create art
The boys had noticed that there were a lot of leaves and sticks on the ground around the yard and the front of the school so we decided to take the opportunity to go outside and to collect some pieces to use for our art lesson. It was very messy and really sticky but everyone had a lot of fun and they turned out great!!
Mindfulness
In our class we all know how important it is to look after our mental health. We are working on developing a number of techniques to help us for when we get angry, worried or sad in school or at home. Mindfulness colouring and meditation are great ways to take a few minutes during the day to calm down and refocus. A new favourite which we love listening to is Niall Breslin's podcast for children. This podcast is teaching us techniques such as 'take five' and 'colour breathing'.
