Recently the boys were learning lots of different facts about our sun and moon which they then developed into information surrounding our Earth. This linked into Earth day and the work we did on helping the environment. As part if this the boys took on a collaborative art piece of a rainbow, where each boy coloured and decorated at least one page of the rainbow. They boys then took on the half sun/half moon image, where they focused on bright colours for the sun side and different activities that are incorporated into daylight, and dark colours for the moon side focusing on nighttime and the difference between the two. Here is just some photo's of their work:
Easter Art
For Easter we created two different art projects. The first were Picasso rabbits based on Pablo Picasso's paintings and the second was Easter Egg wreaths, where the boys decorated twelve of their own Easter eggs and made their own wreath using paper plates and ribbon.
Some of Our Work
The boys have loved some of the different art lessons that we have done this year. From graffiti names, to self portraits, optical illusions to whole class murals for Halloween and Christmas, and of course our tree decorations that received a bit of sparkle from our class elf on the shelf Alfie. These are just a few pictures of some of them.
The BFG
Our 4th class boys were reading the novel the BFG. They loved learning about Sophie the orphan being snatched in the middle of the night by a huge giant who turned out to be big, friendly and a bit confused when talking. From whizzpoppers to snozzcumbers, the bloodbottler to the childchewer, the boys explored every inch of the story. They also created their own dream jars just like the BFG catches. Here are some photos of them.
Science Week
As part of Science week the boys got to build some gadgets. We had a motorized car, a buzz wire game, a bedside lamp, a magnetic swing and a swimming fish that actually went in water. It took the course of an entire week to fully complete everything. The boys loved the idea of getting to build the experiments themselves and watching and playing with the final product. There were times when the tiny little screws nearly got away from them but with the help of each other they excelled beyond expectations.
Here are just a few of the pictures that show the fun they had:
Halloween
We had a spooky dress up day for Halloween. Can you guess who won best dressed?
Maths Whizz
This year we have a mixed class of both 3rd and 4th class boys. The boys have loved getting to know each other and are hard at work learning lots of knew things together. One of their favourite times of the week is Maths Whizz. The boys log on to the website using our Chromebook's and tablets and try and gain gems and coins by completing different Maths tasks for each new level. The boys have loved having their own headphones as well so they can listen to the games online.
