Good Morning,
Just a quick note in case some of you are checking here for updates on work- we have moved the online learning to Google Classroom. Login details were sent by text. If you cannot find your login details please contact me on [email protected] and I can send them again and talk you through logging in. Kind regards, Ms O'Brien Extremely proud to see one of the boys in our class creating a video with important information about Covid-19 and how to stop the spread. I hope you enjoy the video as much as I did!
Good Morning all, I hope you are all keeping well during this challenging time. As I am sure you are all aware, the government has extended the school closures. I have put together some more ideas for work and activities the boys can do at home. These activities are not there to add to the stress but will hopefully give the boys at home some sense of routine and normality. These activities are suggestions and ideas and the boys are very capable of completing the majority of the activities on their own. I would recommend doing the more challenging work like English, Irish and Math early in the morning after breakfast and then the boys can look at other activities like physical activity, drawing, reading or games in the afternoon/evening when they are winding down. But again these are only suggestions and ideas and there is absolutely no pressure to do everything. Helping around the house for example making the dinner, hoovering, matching socks, emptying the dishwasher are also great opportunities for the boys to learn and to become more independent. The boys in 5th class could also help younger siblings to complete their work. At 9:00 every morning, Monday- Friday the Body Coach is doing a PE lesson for 30 minutes. The videos from each morning are saved to Youtube and the boys can access these and get 30 minutes of exercise each day. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=pe+with+joe At 11:00 every morning, David Walliams will be adding a free audio story for the next 30 days. The first audio is called "Grubby Gertrude" and it is definitely worth a listen. https://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses/ Another super website I have found is San Diego Zoo children's website. On this website, the boys will find information on animals, videos, stories, games and activities. https://kids.sandiegozoo.org/ There are also a huge number of Irish stories being read on 'Scéal an Lae' on Youtube. It could be a nice activity for the boys to sit and listen to the story and recognize sounds or words in the Irish language. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=sc%C3%A9al+an+lae Art for kids hubs have a wide variety of videos online that the children can follow and learn to draw. The videos are nice and simple and easy to follow. There are more challenging videos with more detail when the boys build up their confidence. https://www.youtube.com/results?sp=mAEB&search_query=art+for+kids+hub Each day in class, we would take 5 minutes out of our busy day to put our heads down on the table and listen to some relaxation music. This might be a nice activity the boys can continue to do at home particularly at a time when there is stress and uncertainty. It might also be a suitable task in the evening when you would like the boys to wind down and switch off before bed. Please do not hesitate to contact me on [email protected] I can give tips/advice or other ideas by email or we can arrange a time that suits and I can give you a call. Hello everyone, I hope you are all well! Below you will find the links to work for the boys to complete until we are back to school. I would encourage you all to set aside time each day to tackle some of this work. I also think it would be beneficial for the children to complete this work early in the day and in a quiet area of the house. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!
